Cebu Pacific Adjusts Flights Ahead of ASEAN Summit

Manila:Cebu Pacific (CEB), a carrier based in Manila, has adjusted its flight schedules to minimize disruptions during the Philippines' hosting of the ASEAN Summit in November.

According to Philippines News Agency, CEB spokesperson Carmina Romero stated that passengers had been notified about the changes seven days ago and have since been re-accommodated. Although the total number of canceled flights was not disclosed, Romero confirmed that several domestic and international flights were affected. She assured that no further cancellations would occur as the necessary adjustments and coordination with airport authorities have been completed.

In contrast, AirAsia Philippines reported that it did not cancel any flights related to the ASEAN Summit. This was confirmed by Karen Villanda, Assistant Manager for External Communications, who communicated via Viber message that no cancellation advisories were received.

The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) released an advisory on October 26, 2026, regarding potential temporary flight and airport operation adjustments due to the 49th ASEAN Summit scheduled for November 16-18, 2026. CAB Executive Director Carmelo Arcilla mentioned in a recent radio interview that over 100 flights could face cancellations. He emphasized that affected passengers should have options such as refunds, rebooking, or conversion to a travel fund, but airlines would not be liable for additional expenses like hotel accommodations, as the cancellations are not directly attributable to them.
