Dumanjug: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Saturday said the reconstruction of the collapsed part of the flood control structure in Barangay Kang-actol, Dumanjug, Cebu will be completed next week. In a statement, Secretary Vince Dizon said the rebuilding of the structure is being expedited, upon the orders of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
According to Philippines News Agency, the reconstruction, which started on November 27, will be completed in just a week, in response to the needs of the community. The structure collapsed on November 25 due to heavy rains caused by Typhoon Verbena.
President Marcos also issued a directive not to further delay travels and to prioritize the safety of residents and motorists passing through the area. In a video message, Dumanjug Mayor Gungun Gica stated that he personally checked the structure and confirmed that it is not substandard. He attributed the destruction to the force of nature.
