Manila: Farmers in North Cotabato welcomed the 5th State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday, highlighting the government's program for farmers and the agriculture sector.

According to Philippines News Agency, Jun Estorbo, a farmer from Pigcawayan, North Cotabato, expressed his satisfaction during a phone interview after listening to the President's SONA. He stated, 'We are food producers: no farmers means no food on your table.' Estorbo emphasized the importance of the assistance provided through the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk and Families (PAFFF) program, especially in light of the recent conflict in the Middle East and the subsequent rise in oil prices. He noted that it is only now that he truly feels the benefits of the government's agricultural programs.

Meanwhile, Usman Kadil, a 45-year-old jeepney driver in Cotabato City, shared that the fuel subsidy is a vital support for those facing daily economic challenges. Kadil commented, 'When an emergency comes, we can rely on the Marcos administration.' Despite criticism against the government, he believes that President Marcos Jr. is working quietly to improve the lives of ordinary citizens.

Cynthia Omandam, a housewife in Cotabato City, was pleased to hear the President's announcement regarding the amendment of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA). She explained that consumers have been burdened with charges for systems loss due to existing laws. Omandam welcomed the President's commitment to amend the law to prevent such costs from being passed on to consumers.
