Covid-19 Cases in Country Drop by 70% from January to July, Reports DOH

Manila: The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported a significant decrease in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the country, with a 70 percent reduction compared to the same period in the previous year.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DOH noted that a total of 1,532 confirmed cases were recorded from January 4 to July 11, 2026. This figure is considerably lower than the 5,070 cases documented during the identical timeframe in 2025.

Despite this downward trend, the DOH emphasized its ongoing efforts to monitor the situation in collaboration with regional offices and local government partners. The department maintains its disease surveillance and response mechanisms on a nationwide scale.

The public is reminded that Covid-19 can present in different ways, ranging from no symptoms to mild or severe respiratory illnesses. Common symptoms to be aware of include fever, chills, sore throat, cough, runny or clogged nose, headache, fatigue, muscle aches, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and changes in taste or smell.

The DOH encourages the public to continue practicing effective health habits to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses. Recommended practices include regular handwashing with soap and water, covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and maintaining proper hygiene.

Individuals with symptoms of respiratory illness are advised to seek medical consultation at the nearest health center or healthcare facility and adhere to appropriate health measures to prevent further transmission.

The DOH reiterated its commitment to closely monitor the situation and provide timely, accurate, and verified information as necessary.
