Manila: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show-cause order against the owner and driver of a Lexus vehicle involved in a road rage incident, which included the use of an unauthorized blinker.
According to Philippines News Agency, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao took action after a video of the incident was brought to the agency's attention. The video led to the issuance of the show-cause order, emphasizing the need for motorists to adhere to laws and maintain discipline on the road. Lacanilao stated, "No unauthorized device may be installed or used in any vehicle. Every motorist is expected to follow the law and exercise discipline on the road."
The Lexus's registered owner and driver have been summoned to appear before the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division. They are required to submit sworn statements justifying why they should not face penalties for operating a vehicle with unauthorized equipment. Lacanilao further remarked on the unacceptability of aggressive conduct that endangers other drivers, asserting that the LTO will take necessary actions against any violations.
The driver has also been instructed to provide reasons why he should not be deemed unfit to operate a motor vehicle. His driver's license is currently under a 90-day preventive suspension and must be surrendered to the IID. Additionally, the vehicle has been flagged, preventing any LTO transactions during the ongoing investigation.
