Baguio: The Civil Service Commission (CSC) on Thursday urged government workers to report illegal acts, anomalies, and other inappropriate behaviors occurring in government offices. "Our oath as public servants did not only say we should not participate in illegal activities, it also says we must report it to the proper authorities," said Allyson Locano, Director II at the CSC field office Benguet, during the Kapihan event at their regional office in Baguio.

According to Philippines News Agency, Locano emphasized the importance of public servants cooperating to stop and correct wrongdoings within their respective offices. He encouraged complainants to provide sworn statements detailing the acts committed or omitted, along with supporting evidence. Locano noted that while the CSC regularly receives anonymous tips via mail, text, or social media, most lack the necessary information to pursue a case. "If they will not bring to us the information, how can we correct and prosecute whoever is involved? Due to silence, anything illegal will look legal if not corrected," he stated.

Data reveals that the CSC-Cordillera received 143 complaints from January to July 2026, of which 93 have been addressed. The data encompasses both disciplinary and non-disciplinary cases, including corrections of personal information in the appointments of workers whose permanent positions were invalidated.

The country is celebrating the 126th Public Service anniversary in September, themed 'Bawat Kawani Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal at Galing Para sa Bayan.' Various activities such as job fairs, fun runs, and tree planting events will take place throughout the month to commemorate the occasion, alongside the annual search for outstanding public servants.
