Davao City: Police operatives confiscated more than PHP2.4 million worth of illegal drugs in a series of operations conducted from June 1 to 8, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) reported Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, acting DCPO director, Col. Hansel Marantan, stated that the intensified anti-drug campaign involved 27 separate operations, resulting in the arrest of 31 individuals. During the period from June 1 to 7, authorities seized 157.16 grams of methamphetamine (shabu) with an estimated street value of PHP1.06 million, along with 5,007 grams of marijuana worth PHP600,840. On June 8, an additional PHP727,600 of suspected shabu was seized in Paquibato District.
Marantan emphasized the importance of these operations, stating, 'Let this serve as a powerful reminder that a safer, drug-free Davao is well within our reach if we continue to stand together.'
In addition to the drug operations, Marantan reported significant accomplishments in the fight against illegal gambling during the same period. Police conducted 15 operations, resulting in 19 arrests, the confiscation of PHP4,865 in betting money, and the filing of 15 cases.
The DCPO also carried out 47 operations targeting wanted individuals, successfully apprehending 47 people, including 17 listed as most wanted and 30 others. Marantan extended gratitude to barangay officials, community members, and the city government for their continued support, which he acknowledged as invaluable to the success of these operations.
