DBM Approves PHP740.8 Million for DSWD and OCD Quick Response Funds

Manila: The Department of Budget and Management has approved the release of PHP740.834 million to replenish the Quick Response Funds (QRFs) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

According to Philippines News Agency, the DBM stated that approximately PHP640.834 million of the PHP740.834 million will be allocated to the DSWD, while the remaining PHP100 million will be directed to the OCD. This release of funds aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to sustain the government's ongoing relief and recovery efforts following recent disasters in the country.

The DBM outlined that the DSWD will utilize its replenished QRF for procuring family food packs and non-food items to maintain the stockpiling of relief resources in the agency's warehouses. Additionally, the DSWD plans to use the additional funds for emergency cash transfers to 73,348 earthquake victims in Cebu and Davao provinces, as well as to residents affected by the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Mirasol, Nando, and Opong in the Bicol region.

The DBM also mentioned that the funds will be used for procuring transport and delivery services and maintaining stand-by funds for DSWD Regional Offices. This new funding is in addition to the PHP625 million received by the DSWD on October 2 and another PHP716.15 million on October 8 for additional replenishment of its 2025 QRF.

Meanwhile, the PHP100 million replenishment for the OCD's QRF is intended to cover the agency's Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses, supporting its disaster management operations until the end of the year.
