According to Philippines News Agency, Teodoro emphasized the potential for collaboration between the two nations, noting Lithuania's advancements in technology and resilience. Teodoro described the Lithuanian minister's visit as a prime example of "extra-regional cooperation." The discussions at the Shangri-La Dialogue held in Singapore last May laid the groundwork for this visit.
Teodoro emphasized the importance of adhering to international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, to prevent unilateral redefinitions that could harm smaller countries. He underscored the need for countries like the Philippines and Lithuania to collaborate in addressing common threats and challenges.
"In order for us to retain our territorial integrities and sovereignties, and to steward our resources and our natural gifts for future generations," Teodoro stated, highlighting the significance of Lithuania's commitment as an extra-regional partner in upholding international law.
