This declaration follows the appearance of several caskets with anti-Chinese messages throughout Metro Manila.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DFA is actively working with law enforcement to identify and hold those accountable for this incident. The department emphasized that while the Philippines values the right to freedom of expression, this right does not include threats of violence or actions that could compromise the safety and security of others.

The DFA reiterated that such actions do not mirror the Philippine government's method of handling its foreign relations, nor do they represent the manner in which Filipinos express criticism or dissatisfaction, even on sensitive political topics.

The government is committed to its responsibilities concerning the safety and security of foreign nationals and officials within the country. The DFA also reaffirmed its commitment to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. The department assured that it is working closely with law enforcement, who are taking necessary measures to understand the incident's circumstances and establish accountability for this act.
