Navotas: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) announced the completion of two five-story low-rise buildings (LRBs) designed for informal settler families (ISFs) in Navotas City. These structures are part of the Navotaas Homes 5 Phase 2 project, situated in Barangay Tanza 1, intended to provide safe and affordable housing for families living in high-risk areas.

According to Philippines News Agency, DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling highlighted the importance of these new housing units, which aim to offer a dignified living environment for ISFs. The 120 residential units were developed in response to the directive of President Marcos Jr. to ensure decent housing for those in need.

The Navotas city government played a crucial role by identifying and securing the 56,000-square-meter site. This project envisions the construction of 24 low-rise buildings, each with approximately 60 units, to accommodate around 1,440 ISFs. The initiative is governed by a Memorandum of Agreement between the National Housing Authority (NHA), led by General Manager Joeben Tai, and the local government.

Phase 2 of the project includes three buildings, with two already completed. These buildings offer 120 units with essential features such as service areas, kitchen counters, painted interiors, and ready connections for water and electricity. Safety measures, including fire sprinklers and alarms, have also been integrated.

Aliling stressed the administration's commitment to creating secure and resilient housing communities that offer stability and hope for future generations. Senior Undersecretary Henry Yap added that the project site includes essential community facilities such as concrete roads, pathways, drainage systems, street lighting, green spaces, and designated parking areas. The location is flood-free and conveniently situated near schools and markets.
