Manila: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) continues to sustain zero overdue regulatory applications across all regional offices while accelerating the processing within 15 days.

According to Philippines News Agency, DHSUD spokesperson Undersecretary Marisol Anenias cited new policies ordered by Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling that made policies more responsive, leading to zero overdue applications nationwide the past seven weeks. Those found lacking in requirements are given 90 days to comply.

Anenias highlighted that the housing sector is experiencing significant activity, with the department rolling out new policies to assist developers. Among the reforms introduced by the DHSUD is the easing of the Balanced Housing compliance requirement, which now allows developers to complete the socialized housing component before the issuance of the project's Certificate of Completion, instead of prior to securing a license to sell.

Additionally, the DHSUD has introduced the Temporary License to Sell, enabling developers to comply with remaining requirements within the prescribed period. Anenias explained that the agency no longer requires the project to be fully built and constructed at this stage and will request this when developers apply for the certificate of completion for the main project.

The department has streamlined its processes, deployed senior officials to the regions to address operational issues, and is advancing digitalization to avoid corruption. DHSUD stated that it will continue pursuing reforms to improve the efficiency of government services while upholding accountability and consumer protection in the housing sector in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive.
