DILG Conducts Service Caravan for Isolated Pangasinan Barangays

Accra:Pangasinan The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Pangasinan held the second Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) Serbisyo Caravan in the province on Wednesday, aiming to provide essential government services to residents of eight geographically isolated and disadvantaged barangays.

According to Philippines News Agency, the recipient barangays include Alac, Baligayan, Cabalaoan, Cabangaran, Gonzalo, Labuan, Mantacdang, and Nangapugan. These areas were previously identified by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) as sites of recruitment activities and sightings of communist terrorist groups, which have since been cleared by the Philippine Army and turned over to the DILG.

The event, which took place at the local government's event center near the municipal hall, focused on addressing the community's needs through the Retooled Community Support Program. DILG Pangasinan Provincial Director Gerald Gallardo emphasized the importance of this initiative, noting that common requests from the barangays include solar street lights, farm-to-market roads, potable water systems, and school building construction.

Gallardo explained that the DILG facilitates the submission of proposals to national government agencies, which are responsible for providing funding. The DILG also offers technical assistance and guidance to local government units (LGUs) and monitors the implementation of projects. The next target venue for the RCSP Serbisyo Caravan this year is Balungao, following the first event held in Dasol town.

The presence of various government agencies in one location during the caravan helps save time and resources for residents. Among the most sought-after services are those provided by the Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corp.'s YAKAP program, and the Philippine Statistics Authority.
