Dinagat Team Bags National Karate Tourney Crown in Davao City

Davao city: The Neo Dragon Integrated Martial Arts of Dinagat Islands was declared overall champion during the National Karate Championship held at the Almendras Gym in Davao City, which concluded on Sunday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dinagat Islands Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. shared that the tournament, called the 2nd Shorin Chi Nationwide National Karate Championship 2026, was part of the 89th Araw ng Dabaw celebrations on March 16. The victory of the Neo Dragon Integrated Martial Arts team has brought recognition not only to the team but also to the entire Dinagat Islands.

The team achieved a total of 62 medals in the tournament, comprising 34 gold, 14 silver, and 10 bronze medals. 'Their success showed that our province can stand tall on the national stage, and their triumph will also inspire our young athletes to pursue excellence in sports,' Demerey commented.

In addition to the medals, the team secured two prestigious trophies during the event: the Master Cup and the Master Cup Kumite Kata.
