Iloilo city: The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has announced the implementation of a 10-day gun ban starting January 15, 2026, to coincide with the Dinagyang Festival.

According to Philippines News Agency, the ICPO has temporarily suspended the Permit to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFOR) during this period. The announcement was made on Monday afternoon as a preventive measure to ensure the safety and security of festival attendees.

ICPO officer-in-charge Col. Roland Bulalacao emphasized that the gun ban aims to create a secure environment for everyone attending the festival. "This gun ban is not meant to disrupt the celebration but to protect lives. We want everyone to enjoy Dinagyang without hassle, without fear, and without incident. Strict enforcement will be observed for the safety of all," he stated.

Col. Bulalacao also called on the public, particularly licensed firearm holders, to adhere to the policy to avoid any inconvenience or legal repercussions. The police department is committed to maintaining a safe atmosphere for the duration of the festival.
