Manila: An upset and teary-eyed President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. slammed the injustice that 'good and hardworking Filipinos' are experiencing while some amass ill-gotten wealth. In a teaser for the fourth episode of his podcast on Saturday night, Marcos expressed his deep frustration over illegal acts committed at the expense of others.
According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos conveyed his dismay, stating, 'I see people having a hard time. And they don't deserve it. Mabuti mga kung masamang tao 'yan. Dapat parusahan. Hindi naman eh (It would be understandable if they were bad people. They should be punished. But they're not).' He shared these sentiments in a teaser uploaded on his official Facebook page, emphasizing that punishing those who have done nothing but work and care for their families just for personal gain is senseless.
An investigation into government projects is underway, particularly focusing on the construction of flood mitigation structures, following the discovery of alleged irregularities. The probe has unveiled alleged ghost flood control projects amid ongoing investigations and site inspections.
In response to these revelations, Marcos has ordered a comprehensive review of the proposed 2026 budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways. This review aims to ensure there are no double entries or unauthorized insertions, reflecting the administration's commitment to transparency and accountability.
