Legazpi city: The Department of Labor and Employment in Bicol (DOLE-5) has successfully distributed over PHP33 million in cash assistance as part of its various programs. This initiative was launched alongside the opening of more than 1,900 job opportunities during the celebration of Independence Day.

According to Philippines News Agency, Johana Vi Gasga, spokesperson for DOLE-5, highlighted that the cash aid forms part of the support extended to over 3,400 beneficiaries and 29 employers across the region. The assistance encompasses a range of support measures, including livelihood aid, JobStart opportunities, wage payouts under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program, and stipends through the Government Internship Program (GIP).

Gasga also noted the participation of at least 90 exhibitors and sellers during the event, providing fresh and locally made products. This initiative aims to bolster local business entrepreneurs and farmers, with support from the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board.

For livelihood assistance, PHP13.2 million was allocated to 393 beneficiaries across several areas, including Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon. Additionally, cash assistance under the TUPAD emergency employment program was distributed to 24 beneficiaries onsite, totaling PHP39,585, with offsite payouts conducted for 2,755 beneficiaries, amounting to over PHP18 million.

The GIP stipends are set to benefit 213 individuals, with a total distribution of PHP972,677. Moreover, the event featured free services from national government agencies, offering relief to walk-in clients.

The Department of Migrant Workers provided online services such as e-Registration, verification of Philippine recruitment agencies, job vacancy listings, and responses to related queries. The Department of Trade and Industry conducted orientations on business opportunities, entrepreneurship sessions, and business name registration assistance.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development supported Walang Gutom Program beneficiaries during job applications, offering guidance and assistance with program-related inquiries. Pag-IBIG facilitated member registration, records updating, provident claims applications, and Virtual Pag-IBIG account services.
