DOLE Deploys TUPAD Beneficiaries for Typhoon Relief Operations in Pasay City

Pasay: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has dispatched 113 beneficiaries from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program to aid in the repacking of family food packs at the Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Resource Operations Center (DSWD-NROC) Warehouse. These food packs are destined for those affected by cyclones, notably Severe Tropical Storm Opong, also known internationally as Bualoi.

According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative commenced on September 9 and is scheduled to conclude on September 28. This deployment represents a joint effort between DOLE and DSWD, emphasizing the government's dedication to providing timely aid to affected communities and the crucial role of inter-agency collaboration during the typhoon season.

Each TUPAD beneficiary is set to earn a daily wage equivalent to the highest minimum wage rate in the National Capital Region, amounting to PHP695. DOLE acknowledges the significant contribution of TUPAD beneficiaries in ensuring the distribution of food and essential items to families displaced by the typhoon.

TUPAD is designed to offer temporary wage employment ranging from 10 to 90 days, depending on the job requirements. Participants typically engage in community-oriented projects such as the repair, maintenance, and improvement of public facilities and infrastructure, debris clearing, canal de-clogging, tree planting, seedling preparation, and reforestation.
