Manila: A 'No Work, No Pay' policy will apply on the EDSA People Power Revolution on Feb. 25, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the labor advisory specifies that employers are not obligated to pay employees who do not report to work on Feb. 25, which has been declared a special (working) day. The advisory states, "If the employee does not work, the 'no work, no pay' principle shall apply unless there is a favorable company policy, practice, or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) granting payment to a special working day."
The advisory further explains that employees who do report to work on this day will receive 100 percent of their regular wage for the first eight hours. Additionally, workers will be entitled to an extra 25 percent of their hourly rate if they work beyond eight hours on that day.
The DOLE released these pay rules in accordance with Proclamation No. 727, Series of 2024, which pertains to the payment of wages and wage-related benefits.
