Manila: The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Tuesday reiterated its call for a dialogue with transport group Manibela on the second day of the latter's three-day transport strike. The DOTr emphasized its willingness to engage in discussions to address concerns regarding the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP).
According to Philippines News Agency, the DOTr issued a statement inviting Manibela to participate in a 'constructive and open' dialogue with the department and its attached agency. The focus of the dialogue would be to address concerns about the PTMP, with the DOTr expressing openness to suggestions aimed at improving the program to make it more inclusive for commuters, operators, and drivers.
The DOTr also assured commuters that the government remains prepared to meet their needs, especially in areas affected by the transport strike. In a related development, Malaca±ang reported that the ongoing three-day transport strike has not significantly impacted commuters and traffic flow in Metro Manila.
Palace Press Officer, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro, stated that an initial assessment indicated minimal impact from the strike. Several national and local government agencies are on standby to provide free rides if necessary.
