Naic: Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez has mandated the swift construction of relocation sites in Naic, Cavite, to accommodate families who will be displaced by the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project. This directive aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s initiative to ensure that affected residents have new homes to move into.
According to Philippines News Agency, a total of 82 three-story buildings are slated for construction through the Social Housing Finance Corp. for this project. By December, 12 of these buildings are expected to be completed, providing housing for 360 families. During a site visit, DOTr Assistant Secretary for Right-of-Way and Site Acquisition Irish Calaguas confirmed that the relocation sites will include necessary facilities such as a school, daycare centers, rural health centers, and covered courts.
Calaguas expressed gratitude to the local government, noting that their support has been crucial for a smooth relocation process for the families affected by the project. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is also planning to visit another relocation site for the NSCR in Angeles City, Pampanga, later this week.
