DSWD-13: Support of Various Groups Vital in Transport of Relief Goods

Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Caraga Region (DSWD-13) acknowledged the support of various groups in ongoing efforts to help families affected by recent strong earthquakes in Mindanao since Oct. 10. In a statement on Monday, DSWD-13 said various groups helped the agency in loading some 30,000 family food packs (FFPs) to 18 cargo trucks, which traveled to Manay, Davao Oriental on Sunday afternoon.

According to Philippines News Agency, among the groups recognized were the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Philippine Army and Navy Reservists, Fraternal Order of Eagles - Philippine Eagles, and other volunteers. The agency is also thankful to the disaster response teams in the region for their support to ensure that affected communities and families by the recent earthquakes receive interventions from the government.

The agency said as of Sunday, it has PHP168.7 million in relief resources on standby, including PHP2.7 million in standby funds and PHP166 million worth of food and non-food items.
