Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Eastern Visayas (DSWD-8) is intensifying the conduct of family development sessions (FDS) for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) families by distributing FDS kits to approximately 500 municipal and city links in Eastern Visayas.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DSWD regional office announced that the distribution of these kits is part of the agency's initiative to bolster social protection programs and assist frontline workers in delivering essential services to families and communities in the region.

The kits, which were distributed across six provinces in Eastern Visayas from December 26 to 27, 2025, include materials such as Manila paper, bond paper, meta cards, coloring materials, pens, and board markers. These resources aim to support municipal and city links in conducting more structured, engaging, and high-quality family development sessions. These sessions are a vital platform for promoting responsible parenthood, child welfare, health, nutrition, and other social development topics among 4Ps households.

Family development sessions are mandatory monthly meetings for 4Ps beneficiaries. These sessions focus on building life skills, improving parenting abilities, and fostering community involvement. Regular attendance and participation in these sessions are monitored to determine eligibility for cash grants.

The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, launched in 2008 and institutionalized in 2019 through Republic Act 11310, is the Philippine government's national poverty reduction strategy and human capital investment program. It provides conditional cash transfers to poor households for a maximum of seven years, aiming to improve the health, nutrition, and education of their children.
