Easterlies and ITCZ to Bring Scattered Rains Across Parts of Philippines

Manila: Several areas will experience rains caused by the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and the easterlies affecting the country's eastern section, the weather bureau said Wednesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the easterlies will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, Oriental Mindoro, and Marinduque.

Scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the ITCZ will also prevail over Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, and Tawi-Tawi. Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. bulletin.

Isolated rain showers will continue to prevail over the rest of the country due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms could also result in flash floods or landslides, PAGASA warned.

Meanwhile, the whole country will continue to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters. As of 2 a.m., no low pressure area is being monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation, PAGASA said.
