Tacloban: Private sector workers in Eastern Visayas can now enjoy higher pay following the implementation of the second tranche of the wage adjustment, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-8) announced Tuesday. Under Wage Order No. RBVIII-25, the second tranche of the minimum wage increase in Eastern Visayas took effect on June 1, granting an additional PHP18 increase to the current minimum wage rates.
According to Philippines News Agency, under the updated wage order, workers in the non-agricultural sector and those employed in service and retail establishments with more than 10 workers will now receive a daily minimum wage of PHP470. Meanwhile, employees in service and retail establishments with one to 10 workers, as well as workers in the cottage and handicraft industries and the agricultural sector, will receive PHP440 per day.
The RTWPB-8 encourages all covered employers to ensure compliance with the new wage rates and all workers to be informed of their rights under the wage order. According to the board, the wage adjustment aims to improve workers' welfare while balancing the need to sustain business growth and productivity in the region.
