Geneva: Zoji Edoc carded a one-over 72 to beat Andres Jeturian by one shot and claim the boys' 7-10 division title in the ICTSI Junior PGT Championship at the Beverly Place Golf Club. Edoc's victory on Tuesday assured him of a spot in the upcoming North versus South Finals.
According to Philippines News Agency, Edoc tallied a total of 150, while Jeturian shot a 76 for a 151 total. Soonren Lee and Alexian Ching tied for third place with scores of 152. Edoc's win secured him the second automatic berth in the finals, tying him with first-qualifier Zach Guico with 42 points.
Kenzo Tan carded a 73 to place fifth at 158, positioning him at No. 3 in the standings. Ching holds the No. 4 spot, and Asher Abad sits precariously at fifth as the players head into the final Luzon Series leg at Eagle Ridge from June 17-19. Edoc attributed his success to focused practice sessions, particularly on his putting, which he credits for his confidence and performance in the final rounds.
Meanwhile, Jaicee Cervantes claimed a dominant wire-to-wire victory with a closing 74, achieving a total score of 149. Jehanne Mendoza finished nine strokes behind in second place at 158, and Summit Point leg winner Andrea Dee came in third with a score of 164. Cervantes' win catapulted her from 10th to fourth place in the standings, accumulating 23 points in just two appearances.
Cervantes expressed satisfaction with her progress, highlighting the importance of her putting and emotional management in her game. Winter Serapio leads the youngest category's Grand Finals cast with a maximum of 45 points, while Mendoza and Dee are heavily favored to secure the next two spots.
The final berth remains contested between Cervantes and Laura Pablo, while Isabel Cabrera, Tyly Bernardino, and Elizabeth Laurel maintain their chances with 14 points each. The competition intensifies as the JPGT Visayas-Mindanao Series heads to Murcia for its penultimate leg at the Bacolod Golf and Country Club on Wednesday.
