Manila: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a subpoena to motorcycle vlogger 'Luciver' following a viral post featuring a counterfeit show cause order (SCO) and other documents that appeared to be official releases from the LTO. The action was undertaken on Tuesday as part of the agency's efforts to address the dissemination of false information.
According to Philippines News Agency, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao expressed concern over the vlogger's post, which showcased an SCO meant for drivers facing administrative penalties. The post, which quickly gained traction online, prompted the LTO to investigate its authenticity. The agency has instructed the vlogger to appear at the Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) at the LTO Central Office for a clarificatory conference to discuss the matter.
Assistant Secretary Lacanilao emphasized the gravity of creating or spreading fake documents that mimic official LTO releases. He stated that such actions are not only misleading but also undermine the credibility of government officials and processes. He stressed the importance of protecting the agency's name and authority from being exploited for personal gain or content creation.
The LTO chief further highlighted the potential confusion and misinformation that can arise from the dissemination of misleading information. He reinforced the agency's commitment to maintaining public trust in official documents and processes. Lacanilao urged the public to verify information through LTO's official platforms or by visiting an LTO office to prevent the spread of deceptive content.
