Mabini: Mabini town Councilor Jammaila Budac filed an election protest Tuesday against Mayor-elect Emerson Luego, alleging widespread violations during the May 12 polls, her lawyer said Wednesday. Lawyer Mark Tolentino said the complaint includes video and photo evidence purportedly showing masked voters and campaign violations.

According to Philippines News Agency, the protest seeks a temporary restraining order and damages under Section 261 of the Omnibus Election Code. The mayor-elect has five days to file a reply. "We documented campaigning by municipal employees on election day and flying voters," Tolentino said in an interview.

The Philippine News Agency sought comment from Luego but received no immediate response. In a Facebook post Wednesday morning, however, Luego posted a Latin phrase hinting he would rather face the allegations in silence.

For her part, Budac said the legal action represents her supporters' demand for fair elections.
