MANILA: The episcopal ordination of Baguio Bishop-elect Rafael Cruz is set for Sept. 7. The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) News reported on Wednesday that the ordination will be held at the St. John the Evangelist Cathedral at 9 a.m. Lingayen-Dagupan archbishop Socrates Villegas will be the principal consecrator of the ceremony, which is expected to be attended by several bishops, including Papal Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles Brown. Pope Francis appointed Cruz to the post on June 20, replacing then Bishop Victor Bendico, who was named Capiz Archbishop in May last year. On Sept. 17, Brown will lead the rites for Cruz's installation as the new bishop of the diocese of Baguio in a Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Atonement at 8:30 a.m. In 1985, Cruz was ordained as a priest for the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan. He currently heads the Parish of St. Ildephonse in Malasiqui, Pangasinan. Source: Philippines News Agency
