FEU-D Claims Third Victory in UAAP Boys Football Season

Quezon City: Defending champion Far Eastern University-Diliman (FEU-D) secured a 2-0 victory against Ateneo de Manila University on Wednesday night, maintaining their undefeated status in the UAAP Season 87 boys' football tournament at the UP Diliman Football Stadium. Striker Joerby Anito initiated the scoring in the 48th minute, followed by substitute Jerriemy Biton, who added another goal just two minutes later. FEU-D now leads the standings with nine points after three consecutive wins.

According to Philippines News Agency, FEU-D head coach Jake Morallo emphasized the team's strategy to exploit the opponent's backline with direct plays and remarked on the eagerness and speed of their attacking side. Despite missed opportunities in the first half, Morallo praised the team's ability to adjust in the second half, resulting in early goals and a sustained performance.

In other matches, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) dominated Claret School of Quezon City with a 5-1 victory. This win elevated UST to second place in the standings, boasting a goal difference of +7. The Junior Golden Booters secured a 3-0 lead by halftime, with midfielder Yuan Maniscan and Joshua Moleje contributing to the scoreline. Claret responded with a goal from Rolando John Torres, but UST sealed the game with additional goals from substitutes Joshua Balliner and Argos Phrixus Alingalan.

Meanwhile, De La Salle Zobel narrowly defeated PAREF Southridge 1-0. Geoffrey Marqueses scored the decisive goal for La Salle. Head coach Ayi Nii Aryee noted the evenly matched nature of the game, highlighting the team's objective to maintain a strong defense if no further goals were scored.

Looking ahead, FEU-D aims to continue their winning streak against DLSZ on Saturday. UST will face Ateneo, while CSQC is set to compete against Southridge.
