Manila: Novaliches, Quezon City First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Friday distributed 10-kilo bags of rice to 3,300 beneficiaries in Novaliches, Quezon City. This event marked the conclusion of her 'Mula sa Puso Para sa Pamilya' initiative's five-day rollout in Metro Manila.
According to Philippines News Agency, the program aimed to support vulnerable families across all 14 villages in Quezon City's fifth district. The ceremonial distribution took place at the District Center within Jordan Plains Subdivision in Barangay Sta. Monica. Beneficiaries received 10 kilos of rice to help alleviate the challenges faced by low-income households. The rice was sourced locally to aid farmers in increasing their agricultural productivity and income.
The week's events also included a raffle draw where participants won additional prizes such as sacks of rice, rice cookers, and a television set. Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte expressed her gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the First Lady for the assistance. She emphasized that residents would receive 10 kilos of rice every two months over four distribution cycles. Mayor Belmonte highlighted the significance of this ongoing support to the community.
Barangay Gulod chairperson Aldrin Tolentino praised the initiative, noting its substantial impact on the beneficiaries, particularly senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs). Sta. Monica village chief Charlie Manalad emphasized the program's sustainability through multiple rounds of distribution. He reflected on the program's novelty and its planned continuation over four tranches.
Celso Garrett, a 52-year-old PWD who had to stop working as a driver following kidney surgery, lauded the initiative and voiced his support for the administration.
