Antique: The lone remnant of the communist terrorist group (CTG) in Antique is assured of security and support once he surrenders. Provincial Board committee on peace and order and public safety chair Vincent Piccio, in an interview on Friday, reiterated the call for Julius Segundera Morga, alias Alas/Tonton, to surrender.
According to Philippines News Agency, there had been previous feelers about the surrender, but it did not materialize. The feeler was sent to Hamtic Mayor Julius Ronald Pacificador in February and March this year, but alias Alas/Tonton did not show up. He is believed to be hiding somewhere in Tapaz, Capiz.
Meanwhile, during the Antique Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting on June 16, the Philippine Army's 61st Infantry Battalion Civil Military Operations Officer, 1st Lt. Alexis Yap, warned local chief executives to be wary about the possible effort of the CTG regional white area committee to recover its previous mass bases in the province through their 'legal organizations.'
The Philippine Army is sustaining its efforts in the already CTG-cleared areas because of its possible effort to recover its mass bases. These organizations may influence the community people to join rallies or other activities against the government.
