Tagaytay city: Delivery biker Zedric Ivan Honorica stands to receive cycling gear and equipment, funding, and training support from foodpanda after breaking the 20-year-old Philippine record in the men's elite sprint at the 2026 Asian Track Cycling Championships in Tagaytay City on March 29.
According to Philippines News Agency, foodpanda Philippines recognized Honorica, a former Ka-panda rider, for setting a new record of 10.865 seconds with a modest bike setup, far from the high-end equipment used by many of his international competitors. In a news release posted on social media, foodpanda highlighted Honorica's achievement and expressed their commitment to supporting him.
'Zedric's story is a powerful example of the talent and determination within our rider community. At foodpanda, we create opportunities for our Ka-panda riders to go beyond the road and pursue what matters most,' said Patricia Jacinto, Growth and Marketing Director at foodpanda Philippines. 'We're excited for what more he can accomplish with upgraded equipment and continuous training.'
Jacinto further explained that the cycling gear and equipment are designed to help the 21-year-old Honorica focus on his training and future competitions. 'After his breakout moment, foodpanda reached out to offer support for his training and competitive journey, reinforcing its commitment to empowering riders beyond the platform,' foodpanda stated.
Honorica will also receive one year's worth of Pandamart groceries. Following his breakthrough performance, Honorica vowed to focus on improving his skills to win more medals in international competitions. 'Being a working student-athlete isn't easy, so support like this means a lot. I appreciate that foodpanda values riders like us who are also chasing bigger goals. This will help me focus more on training and give my best in the competitions ahead,' Honorica said.
He is set to join more road races as part of his training, with the goal of competing internationally and representing the Philippines again, including the Southeast Asian Games.
