Manila: The weather bureau on Monday announced that Tropical Depression (TD) Caloy is predicted to weaken into a remnant low within the day. Caloy is not anticipated to directly affect the country throughout the forecast period, as stated by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). The depression will remain far from any landmass, according to the bureau.
According to Philippines News Agency, PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin reported that Caloy is currently packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near its center, with gustiness reaching up to 55 kilometers per hour. The tropical depression was last recorded 530 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. Importantly, no wind signal has been hoisted over any part of the country.
Meanwhile, moderate seas are anticipated to prevail over several coastal waters, including the seaboards of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, northern Ilocos Sur, Aurora, Camarines Norte, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Surigao del Sur. Other affected areas include the western seaboard of Pangasinan, northern seaboards of Camarines Sur, and northern and eastern seaboards of Quezon, including Polillo Islands and Catanduanes. The eastern seaboards of Albay, Sorsogon, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Siargao-Bucas Grande Islands, and Davao Oriental are also expected to experience these conditions.
PAGASA has advised mariners operating motor bancas to take precautionary measures and avoid navigation under these conditions to ensure safety.
