Government Transfers P25-Million Farm Equipment to MNLF.

Santos City: The government has handed over PHP25 million worth of farm equipment to members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), as reported by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU). The turnover event took place at Mindanao State University in General Santos City, marking a significant step in the ongoing Transformation Program. According to Philippines News Agency, the farm equipment package includes eight tractors, six rice combine harvesters, a corn sheller, and various machinery accessories. These resources are part of the initiatives laid out in the socio-economic provisions of the 1996 Final Peace Agreement with the MNLF, aimed at boosting agricultural productivity in the region. OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. emphasized the importance of collaboration between the MNLF and the national government to ensure the successful implementation of the transformation program. He stated, "Indeed, the national government cannot journey on this path to peace alone. It is critical that you, our partners, continue to walk with us. Let us remember that we all have a role to play in protecting and sustaining our country's peace." The distribution of the equipment is expected to enhance agricultural productivity in several regions, including Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, North Cotabato, Cotabato City, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani. This effort represents a continuing commitment to foster peace and economic development in these communities.
