Pasig city: The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) on Wednesday expressed gratitude to the government for its support in hosting the FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup (FFWWC) 2025, scheduled to take place in Pasig City from November 21 to December 7.
According to Philippines News Agency, on July 30, 2025, the government issued Administrative Order No. 35, outlining President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.'s directive to establish an Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to ensure the successful hosting of the FFWWC in the Philippines. The task force, led by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), is tasked with coordinating the efforts of various government bodies, local government units, and private stakeholders involved in organizing the prestigious FIFA tournament.
PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez emphasized the PSC's pivotal role in uniting all FFWWC stakeholders and coordinating their efforts. He noted the significant contribution of PSC and Chairman Patrick Gregorio in facilitating the country's hosting of the FFWWC, recognizing their support as essential to bringing the world-class international tournament to fruition.
The PSC, PFF, and other IATF members have been collaborating for several months, beginning with planning sessions and coordination meetings earlier this year. The FFWWC 2025 draw ceremony, held on September 15 at the BGC Arts Center, was attended by FIFA officials, dignitaries from the 16 competing countries, media representatives, and notable figures such as Filipina national athletes Hali Long and Vanie Gandler, Croatia's women's national futsal team head coach Tihana Nemcic Bojic, and renowned Brazilian futsal player Falco.
In a recorded message shown at the draw, FIFA President Gianni Infantino acknowledged the PFF's crucial role in securing the bid to host the FFWWC and highlighted the tournament's significance for the development of futsal and football in the Philippines and the region. Infantino described the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup as a transformative event, providing the world's top women's futsal players with a global platform and inspiring future generations of players. He commended the efforts of PFF President John Gutierrez and former PFF President and current FIFA Council Member Mariano Araneta in achieving this milestone.
Infantino also announced his intention to return to the Philippines to celebrate this momentous occasion for the country and the global futsal community.
