GSIS Brings Largest School Aid Drive to Upland Misamis Community

Dipolog City: The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is supporting efforts to close education gaps in the country's remotest corners, marking its most expansive school outreach since helping the Department of Education on the latter's Adopt-a-School Program.

According to Philippines News Agency, GSIS has supported 30 public schools to date, with the latest being San Francisco Elementary School in the upland village of Bagong Nayon in Concepcion town, Misamis Occidental. The school, categorized by the Department of Education as a 'Last Mile School,' serves 22 students and requires a one-hour drive and a three-hour hike to reach.

GSIS President and General Manager Arnulfo Veloso and Department of Education officials formalized the latest donation through a deed signing in Dipolog City recently. The aid package includes five laptops, nine mobile tablets, and two printers aimed at digitizing learning and improving instructional delivery in isolated areas.

The Adopt-a-School Program, a collaborative effort with other institutions, has so far benefited 164 schools nationwide, providing digital learning tools to communities with limited connectivity and resources. "Every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of where they live," Veloso said. "Our partnership with the Department of Education helps us reach more learners and bring meaningful change to schools across the nation."
