Quezon: The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) on Friday emphasized the significant impact of direct member feedback in driving institutional reforms during its 2025 NCR Stakeholders' Dialogue held this week in Quezon City.
According to Philippines News Agency, the dialogue, which took place on November 19 at the VS Hotel and Convention Center, brought together hundreds of members, pensioners, and representatives from government agencies for an extensive discussion on GSIS programs, services, and ongoing reforms. GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso underscored the importance of listening to members to enhance transaction ease and convenience with the agency, attributing many improvements to member suggestions.
Veloso highlighted recent policy changes, such as eliminating the required down payment for members purchasing GSIS housing units they currently rent, with monthly rent now being part of the amortization. The program's open forum segment saw members voicing concerns over loan policies, pension processing, digital services, and other programs, with GSIS officials offering direct responses to these issues.
UP Diliman Chancellor Edgardo Carlo Vistan II, delivering the keynote address, praised GSIS for its collaborative and aligned approach to reforms. He emphasized the shared commitment to meaningful progress through institutional collaboration, system alignment, and strengthened public service. Vistan lauded GSIS's efforts to modernize member services, improve records management, and enhance digital security.
The event also addressed digital innovation and fraud prevention, with Scam Watch Pilipinas co-founder Jocel De Guzman discussing the rising threats of digital fraud targeting government employees. GSIS showcased enhancements to its mobile app and online platforms, focusing on improved security features and user experience.
Additionally, the forum recognized top-performing government agencies for excellence in loan and premium collections, reduced past-due rates, and digital collaboration. Among the honored were CHED Region 4-B (Mimaropa), the University of the Philippines System, and several other key government bodies. Acting Philippine National Police chief, Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting the importance of accountability and good governance in enhancing public service.
GSIS President Veloso, alongside Trustees Beatriz Torno, lawyer Garry De Guzman, and Gilbert Sadsad, affirmed the commitment to continue regional dialogues to foster transparency and accountability, strengthening the agency's connection with its members.
