Laguna: Governor Sol Aragones has mandated the demolition of 67-year-old buildings at Calo Elementary School, citing safety risks associated with the deteriorating structures.

According to Philippines News Agency, the governor conducted an ocular inspection at the Bay town school, which was built in 1958. During her visit, she observed cramped classrooms and was informed about recurring flooding during heavy rains. Governor Aragones emphasized the urgency of addressing these safety concerns, stating, "We saw here that the classrooms are very old," and highlighted the necessity of replacing the hazardous structures.

The provincial government has taken proactive steps to address these issues. Provincial Engineer Gil Agarri led a team of technical experts in conducting inspections to assess the structural integrity of the existing buildings. They are also planning for new construction, which may include a multi-story building to better accommodate the students and staff. Governor Aragones assured the community, "We're going to build new school buildings and fix this problem right away," reflecting the administration's commitment to ensuring a safe educational environment.
