Manila: The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has introduced a new fully automated and paperless filing system for retirement and life insurance claims, allowing inactive members to submit and track their applications via the Touch mobile application.

According to Philippines News Agency, the launch adheres to GSIS Memorandum Circular No. 068, series of 2025, which mandates government agencies to electronically send service records, retirement dates, and Leave Without Pay certifications of retiring personnel at least 20 working days prior to their retirement date. GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso emphasized that this digital shift eliminates the need for manual paperwork, thereby expediting the benefit validation process.

Veloso stated that the goal is to offer retiring members a seamless transition. The move to a digital, agency-driven workflow allows GSIS to validate records earlier, eliminating the requirement for retirees to submit paper documents. Through the enhanced GSIS Touch app, inactive members can file claims related to retirement, separation, and life insurance using secure facial authentication.

The new platform gives users the ability to view tentative benefit computations and track their application status in real-time through the Transaction Monitoring System. Members are notified via text message or email once their records are cleared and ready for filing. Approved benefits are directly credited to their bank accounts.

GSIS highlighted that this digital initiative supports its 'Ginhawa (Convenience) for All' program by enhancing accessibility, transparency, and service delivery speed for members and pensioners across the country. The online facility is available exclusively for retiring members under Republic Act No. 8291.
