Manila: Two suspects in the fatal shooting of vlogger Alicia Lipata, popularly known as Mima Alicia, in Caloocan City have been arrested and will face murder charges, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, during a press briefing held in Camp Crame, PNP information chief and spokesperson Col. Allen Rae Co stated that the suspects-a 58-year-old alleged gunman and a 48-year-old driver-were apprehended at around 8:20 a.m. on July 23 in Barangay Dau, Mabalacat, Pampanga.

The PNP spokesperson explained that the arrests were the result of an intensive investigation and follow-up operations conducted by the Northern Police District, particularly the investigation task group Mima. He noted that the suspects matched the description of those seen in a video, which showed two individuals on a motorcycle stopping and killing the vlogger, known as Mima.

During the police operation, authorities recovered two hand grenades, a 9 mm pistol, and a caliber .45 firearm from the suspects, which are believed to have been used in the killing. The suspects will face charges for murder and illegal possession of firearms.

Col. Co mentioned that the motive behind the killing is still under investigation, and the police are looking for other individuals who may be connected to the case. He indicated that they have received information that cannot yet be disclosed to avoid compromising ongoing manhunt operations and the investigation.

The incident occurred when Alicia was gunned down by a motorcycle-riding tandem on July 17 in Caloocan City. The attack happened in front of her house, and neighbors rushed both the vlogger and her partner to the hospital.
