Gymnastics Association of the Philippines Unveils Logo for Junior World Championships

Manila: The Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) unveiled the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships logo, inspired by the country's rich cultural and historical heritage.

According to Philippines News Agency, the logo is a stylized oyster shell in a blend of purple, white, and golden hues, featuring the official Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) acronym as the 'pearl' at its center. GAP president Cynthia Carrion explained that the logo reflects the Philippines' reputation as the 'Pearl of the Orient Seas' and symbolizes the nation's role as the host of the global event.

Carrion emphasized the logo's representation of the Philippines as a welcoming and hospitable nation, offering a supportive space for future champions. She highlighted the significance of the FIG logo within the oyster shell, symbolizing the universality of gymnastics as a prominent Olympic sport.

The FIG now includes 161 member countries, with 77 nations sending 846 athletes to the tournament set at the Manila Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom inside the Newport Resorts World in Pasay City from November 20 to 24. The strategic location offers delegates accommodation options at nearby hotel partners, ensuring convenience and accessibility.

Carrion noted that the event has already surpassed the participation numbers of the previous junior worlds held in Antalya, Turkey, which featured 234 gymnasts from 64 countries. She expressed readiness to welcome more participants.

The logo also features a male gymnast and a female gymnast performing on the rings and balance beam, symbolizing the young athletes being nurtured to become future gymnastics stars. Carrion likened these athletes to pearls, representing dedication, discipline, and dreams.

Representing the Philippines at the event will be Karl Eldrew Yulo, younger sibling of Paris Olympic gold medalist Carlos Edriel Yulo, and Elisabeth Antone, the individual all-around bronze medalist at the Asian Juniors in Jecheon, South Korea.
