Pangasinan: The province of Pangasinan will experience heavy rainfall from Thursday to Friday due to the effects of the low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon or "habagat", according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
According to Philippines News Agency, PAGASA Dagupan chief Jose Estrada Jr. stated in an interview on Thursday that the LPA is enhancing "habagat", resulting in moderate to heavy rains across the province. Estrada noted, "Flooding is likely in low-lying areas since the soil is already run off due to rain in the past days."
In Weather Advisory No. 6, issued by PAGASA at 11 a.m., Pangasinan is under an orange rainfall warning, with 100 to 200 millimeters of rainfall expected until Friday noon. The advisory urges the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. PAGASA Regional Services Divisions may issue Heavy Rainfall Warnings, Rainfall/Thunderstorm Advisories, and other severe weather information specific to their areas of responsibility as appropriate.
In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive on disaster preparedness, the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) has raised a blue alert status and continues 24/7 monitoring in partnership with PAGASA. A blue alert signifies that officers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine National Police will be on duty to respond to issues and requests from regional disaster councils and partner agencies.
"Government agencies and local units are mobilizing resources, activating response plans, and issuing advisories. The public is urged to stay alert and follow official updates," the OCD emphasized.
