Paoay: The local government unit (LGU) of Paoay, Ilocos Norte, distributed sacks of fertilizer as a subsidy to all registered farmers in the municipality. Mayor Shiella Galano led the daylong distribution in the villages of Mumulaan, Nagbacalan, Nanguyudan Pasil, Sungadan, and Suba, among others.
According to Philippines News Agency, Galano addressed the 188 farmer-recipients in Barangay Nagbacalan, emphasizing the importance of the subsidy in assisting farmers with the rising prices of agricultural inputs. She assured that all farmers registered in the Registry System for Basic Agriculture (RSBA) would receive government support.
Galano encouraged farmers who have not yet received support to register with the municipal agriculture office to avail themselves of other services. These include livestock, quality seeds, farm equipment, and tools, as well as skills training, marketing support, and financial assistance.
The RSBA serves as a registry for farmers, fisherfolk, and farm laborers, helping identify beneficiaries for agriculture-related programs. The system is regularly updated by the Department of Agriculture regional office and the RSBA team, ensuring accurate data collection for guiding government interventions.
