Ilocos region: Residents across the Ilocos Region were advised on Monday to stay alert for potential flash floods and landslides as ongoing monsoon rains, intensified by a weather disturbance, persist in Northern Luzon.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that moderate to heavy rainfall may trigger flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous and slope-prone communities. Areas in the Ilocos Region are among those expected to experience continued rains due to the southwest monsoon (habagat).

Ilocos Norte local disaster risk reduction officer Marcel Tabije urged local government units and disaster management offices to monitor the weather, inspect waterways, preposition response assets, and conduct evacuations in high-risk communities if needed. "As rains continue to affect us, we encourage everyone to stay alert, take precautionary measures, and always prioritize health and safety," Tabije said in a media interview.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council also reminded the public to monitor official weather bulletins, prepare emergency kits, avoid crossing flooded roads and swollen rivers, and evacuate immediately if signs of flooding or landslides become evident.

Early Monday, Nueva Era municipal officials and police personnel helped Sangguniang Kabataan officials from Paoay safely return after they were stranded in Barangay Barangobong due to rising river water and damaged roads.
