ILOILO CITY: The second run of the 'Calle Real Night Market' is scheduled for November 15 to 17, offering more opportunities for leisure, strolling, shopping, and eating as the holiday season approaches. According to Philippines News Agency, the night market's Christmas edition is a celebration of local heritage culture, arts, music, and gastronomy. Architect Wilfredo Sy Jr., the technical lead for events of the city's meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) center, shared these details during a press conference on Monday. The first night market, held in August, was designed to showcase the city's culture, rich gastronomy, and heritage, Sy explained. Due to participant demand, they decided to organize a Christmas edition. This night event along Calle Real, Iloilo City's heritage zone, will feature ambulant vendors, local producers and farmers, the Iloilo Hotel, Resorts and Restaurant Association, barbecue stalls, and non-food vendors selling retail, apparel, henna, and fashion items. In a ddition to food participants, the event will feature street performers, providing a platform for artists, musicians, and dancers to showcase their talents. Sy emphasized that it is a Christmas event, as Filipinos begin celebrating once the 'ber months arrive, and it aligns with the release of bonuses and salaries. Sy noted that holding the event in November is strategic, as December is filled with Christmas parties, which could impact attendance. Vendors can start selling at 5 p.m., and the market will close at midnight. Sy also mentioned plans to discuss pricing with concerned parties to ensure it is reasonable and friendly for attendees. The inaugural night market on August 16 attracted an estimated crowd of around 15,000, with sales exceeding PHP1.27 million, according to estimates from the Philippine National Police.
