Iloilo City: Senator Imee Marcos remains committed to advocating for creating a single agency to manage water resources, emphasizing that water scarcity will become a major issue in the next 10 to 15 years. In a press conference here Wednesday evening, the re-electionist senator said multiple governing agencies currently oversee water management, yet the fundamental problem persists - "there is no water at the end of the day."

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos expressed concerns over the current fragmented approach to water management. She noted that overlapping responsibilities among various agencies lead to inefficiencies, with each encroaching into others' domains. "For me, one of the issues is there is simply too many bumping into each other and encroaching into each other's turf," Marcos said.

Marcos highlighted the need for a single water agency, especially in light of repeated concerns on flood control, which has received the largest budget, overshadowing agriculture, housing, and development. "It is long overdue and I believe that water is going to be a challenge for the next 10 to 15 years. That's going to be a problem not only here but all over the world. The whole earth is running short of water," she added.

During her visit to Iloilo City, Marcos attended the national rally of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas on Thursday. She also joined barangay officials and health workers of the municipality of Sta. Barbara, alongside 4th District Rep. Ferjenil Biron and Anilao Mayor Lee Ann Debuque.

Marcos reiterated her advocacy to extend the term of barangay officials, emphasizing her deep understanding of rural concerns as the only 'probinsyana' among the senatorial candidates.
