Manila: Damage to infrastructure related to the June 8 magnitude 7.8 earthquake that rattled Maasim, Sarangani, and nearby provinces has now climbed to PHP1,466,859,440, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday. The figure rose from the PHP1,356,034,440 reported last June 19.
According to Philippines News Agency, in its latest situational update, the NDRRMC said the infrastructure damage was reported in Regions 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), 11 (Davao Region), 12 (Soccsksargen), and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). As of this posting, quake-damaged infrastructure numbered 1,065. Houses damaged as of this time totaled 97,702, of which 75,098 are classified as "partially damaged" and 17,604 as "totally damaged."
The NDRRMC reported that these damaged houses were recorded in Regions 9, 11, 12, and the BARMM. Meanwhile, the death toll remained at 81, with nine verified and all in Region 11, with injured placed at 1,316 and missing at 31.
The number of affected families is placed at 391,088 families, which is equivalent to 1,677,256 persons residing in 627 barangays in Regions 9, 11, 12, and the BARMM.
