Antique: The Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) officially opened at the old Antique Capitol lobby, showcasing 40 exhibitors with an array of new products and designs aimed at attracting more customers.
According to Philippines News Agency, the event highlights innovative offerings from local cooperatives and associations. Donna Gacillos, the audit committee head of the Hamtic Coconut Farmers Marketing Cooperative, shared that they have expanded their product line to include scented candles and soap, alongside their staple offerings of fresh coconut juice, coconut, and 'bandi'-coconut meat with brown sugar.
Helly Mabaga, assistant processor at the Belison Cooperative Dairy Enterprise, noted that they have introduced pastillas made from dairy milk to complement their usual bottled fresh milk. "We are looking forward to making good sales from our products," she stated.
Irele Mahimpit, president of the Ramon Magsaysay Bamboo Crafters Association, announced the launch of new bamboo bags featuring 'patadyong', a handwoven fabric, making them more fashionable. The association also unveiled new designs for backpacks and fruit trays.
The three-day Kadiwa event serves as a prelude to the Labor Day celebration on May 1. Virginia Goboy, the provincial officer-in-charge of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Antique, emphasized the broader impact of the KNP initiative during the opening ceremony. "The KNP is not only buying and selling. It is also empowering communities, promoting local products, and making sure that no worker, no farmer, and no entrepreneur is left behind," she said.
Exhibitors participating in the event receive a PHP550 daily wage through the DOLE Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) workers program.
