Antique: The two-day Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) event in Antique will provide a platform for market matching and linkage activities, aimed at connecting local producers directly with buyers and lowering the prices of goods for consumers. This initiative is organized by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA).
According to Philippines News Agency, the KNP is part of the events marking the Independence Day celebration. Scheduled for June 11, the event will feature 40 exhibitors who will have the opportunity to present their products to potential buyers. OPA Agri-Business and Marketing coordinator Betty Baldevia highlighted that the activity serves as a direct meeting ground for sellers and buyers, facilitating market expansion.
Baldevia noted that the direct interaction between buyers and producers eliminates the need for middlemen, ensuring a more efficient flow of products from farms to consumers. This direct supply chain is expected to result in lower prices for goods. The event has attracted buyers from various sectors, including hotel and restaurant operators, souvenir shop owners, caterers, and other traders.
Local products available at the event will include rice, vegetables, fruits, processed food, and non-food items, all offered at prices 5 percent to 15 percent lower than the current market rates. The exhibitors are also part of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program by the Department of Labor and Employment, which provides them with a daily wage of PHP513 as additional income.
